Letter from our Dean

Dear Maple Village Community,

What a great first full week of school! Our Parent/Toddler Classes began and are at maximum capacity. It was lovely to see our smallest students and their parents enjoying time together singing, moving, hearing the story of the Little Red Hen, grinding wheat and playing. Our Eurythmy Classes started with Mr. Dupuis (Kindergarten - 8th grades), and I taught my first Language Arts lesson of the year to the 7th/8th grade. In addition, two of our grades had their first field trips to study farming, the farming business and California history.

3 P’s! Parent Village, Picture Days, Parking….

Are you wondering how can you get involved? Our first Parent Village meeting is coming up on Tuesday evening at 6:00! Thank you to our PV Chair, Reggie Melrose, for covering childcare, so that you are able to enjoy it for free! Please RSVP for childcare, so that we are able to have the appropriate amount of care-givers. (See Announcement Below).

Also, Picture Days are coming on Sept. 27 and 28 (see flyer below). All individual pictures will be taken in the photo studio, which will be set up in our Preschool Courtyard. Class photos will take place in their classrooms.

Please remember to pull all the way over to the curb and avoid double parking when dropping off or picking up your students. We need to keep the street open to passing cars, as this helps safety and neighbor relations.

Here is another heart-warming quote I received from a parent this week:
"I knew you had a wonderful program over there, but WOW!!! My child had NO uncomfortable transition whatsoever! What kid can start kindergarten at a new school and acclimate as if she’s been there forever!?! It was amazing. I never imagined that I would feel so good leaving my baby at a new school. The teacher made the classroom so calm and safe and interesting that the kids were fine separating from their parents."

Have a beautiful weekend!

Lisa

3rd Grade Gardening

We are potting up a Golden Dorset apple tree for our garden. Lots of blossoms hopefully mean lots of delicious apples!
During our lesson the Cottonwoods discussed the different types of gardens. Flower, edible, fruit, shade and more. Then we decided what kind of garden we would like to grow this year. Every class we journal, garden and explore.
